I added my levels to the build. I saw the other levels as quite difficult, so I decided mine would be less so, to ease the players into the game.

The first few obstacles are ones that are seen throughout the game, but you have much more leniency, and they are more forgiving of mistakes.

You start in a safe zone and can move around a little once you leave the first obstacle is a hallway with one sideways line in the way. I made it so you purposely cannot avoid hitting the line without adjusting your characters position once leaving the safe zone. This assures that the player knows how to control the character and so they know the basic goal of the game.

The next obstacle is the maze changing direction where they must adjust the direction the character is going twice.

They are then met with 3 of the same lines from earlier protruding from both the top and bottom of the maze. They have the change their characters direction multiple times in quick succession.

After this, the next obstacle is the maze turning at an angle, getting narrower. They must move left and right quickly to assure they don’t hit the walls. This obstacle is seen many times throughout the game but this version of it is much easier to complete.

Before reaching the goal, they are met with once last narrow turn, going up and down.

The second level is similar but more difficult. This tests them on the knowledge of the previous level. They are immediately met with a tight hallway and then a turn down and left.

After that’s there is a right turn with a new obstacle. A thin line in the centre of the maze which is not connected to anything. They can go above it which is slightly narrower or below it but they must perform an extra change of direction.

Then they are met to the hallway with three lines again, but this time is vertical while going down. After another angled hallway they reach three more squares, reaching the last goal before the next theme.

Theme

I added the theme to my levels. They match the overall theme of the game being “neon”. My theme is in a neon vaporwave style.

  • Walls are a bright pink with a blue glow
  • The background is a very dark purple which helps the other assets stand out
  • Character and goal are neon yellow
  • Horizontal stripes are present throughout the background of the level (apart from the background to avoid confusion)
  • The goal is in the style of a sun with horizontal stripes matching the background (often seen in vaporwave images)

Bug Fixes (in my levels)

  • Walls now properly connect to each other
  • Walls no longer overlap with one another
  • Collisions are now much more precise, preventing unfair deaths
  • Secret shortcut added
  • Added horizontal lines on goal
  • Adjusted background colour
  • Adjusted difficulty on angled obstacle to be more forgiving
